- Directly: We collect your personal data directly from you, with your consent, in order to provide you with banking services or to process your transactions with the Bank, depending on the requested or agreed-upon services.
- Indirectly: We may collect your personal data from multiple sources, such as social media platforms, public sources, authorized governmental and official entities, and device identifiers, for the purpose of better understanding you and serving you more effectively, to achieve another legitimate interest, or to comply with a legal obligation.
Types of Data Processed by the Bank
We collect and process your personal data and information when you use or access any of our platforms, and continuously throughout your banking relationship with us. The information we collect or process includes identity-related details such as your name and contact information (including email address and mobile number), personal profile information (such as marital status, age, gender, occupation), and financial details such as income. This helps us verify your identity, ensure account security, and comply with applicable regulations. Additionally, we collect technical data such as your Internet Protocol (IP Address), browsing patterns, and cookie usage to enhance our services and personalize your experience.

Purposes and Scope of Processing Your Data
The Arab Jordan Investment Bank (AJIB) collects and processes your personal data for various purposes related to our banking services, products, and other legitimate business needs, including but not limited to:

Legal Bases for Processing Your Personal Data
We rely on the following legal bases when processing your personal data:
- Contractual Obligation: We process your personal data as necessary to enter into a contract with you and/or to perform a contract, or to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, such as when you submit an application for a housing loan or a personal loan.
- Compliance with Legal or Regulatory Requirements: We process your personal data to comply with applicable laws and regulations imposed by regulatory or judicial authorities. This includes anti–money laundering laws and regulations, compliance monitoring requirements, and anti-fraud regulations. For example, collecting “Know Your Customer” data, including income details, workplace address, and residential address, is required under anti–money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws applicable to the Bank.
- Legitimate Interests: We process your personal data as necessary to pursue a legitimate interest, such as processing personal data to protect against cybersecurity risks, enhancing the Bank’s products and services, and profiling or analytics activities aimed at improving the suitability of products and services to customer preferences and needs. In line with the Central Bank of Jordan’s data protection regulations, whenever the Bank relies on legitimate interest as a basis for processing, it ensures that such interest does not compromise or override individuals’ rights and interests.
- Consent: In cases where the above-mentioned legal bases do not apply, we will process your personal data based on your consent. You have the right to withdraw such consent at any time by submitting a request to that effect. For further information, please refer to the section below titled “Your Rights Regarding Data Protection.”
Retention of Personal Data
The Bank retains your personal data for a period of no less than five years from the date of termination of the relationship or completion of the transaction, whichever is longer, for the following purposes:
- Compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Contributing to the detection and prevention of fraud and financial crimes.
- Responding to requests from regulatory or supervisory authorities.
Your data will be retained for only as long as necessary for these purposes, after which the Bank will securely delete or destroy it once it is no longer needed.
Data Sharing and Transfer
The Bank may, within the limits permitted by applicable laws and regulations, share your data and transaction information with the following parties:
- AJIB branches and subsidiaries for legitimate business purposes, including data backup operations or insurance requirements.
- Correspondent banks for executing financial transfers, providing trade services, and delivering any additional products or services you request.
- External auditors engaged to conduct audit procedures, who may request access to samples of the Bank’s data for the purposes of examination and verification.
- Third-party service providers, including cloud computing providers, to perform legitimate business operations in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Entities involved in processing cards and digital payments, including international institutions, in accordance with the operating requirements of such services.
- Regulatory bodies, government authorities, financial crime enforcement agencies, and tax authorities, upon request and in accordance with applicable laws.
- Postal, delivery, and courier service providers, when necessary for delivering items such as bank cards.
- Specialized printing companies, including those responsible for printing cheque books.
- Credit reference agencies in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
- Law firms, attorneys, or legal consultants, when required to obtain necessary legal advice or services.
- Real estate valuation companies, where required, such as in cases involving mortgage transactions in favor of the Bank.
- Debt collection agencies engaged to recover outstanding and unpaid debts.
- Insurance companies for processing your health data as part of credit and financing procedures, subject to your prior consent to share such data with the insurance provider.
- Any other parties with whom your data is shared based on your explicit and prior consent.
Your Rights Regarding Data Protection
In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and pursuant to the Personal Data Protection Law and the Regulation Governing Data Subject Rights, you are entitled to exercise the following rights regarding your personal data:
- The right to access your personal data and request information on how it is processed and the purposes for which it is used.
- The right to correct, amend, or update your personal data to ensure its accuracy and completeness.
- The right to object to the processing of your personal data or request that such processing be restricted within specific legal limits.
- The right to erase your personal data if it is processed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, or in a manner inconsistent with your original consent.
- The right to withdraw your consent at any time.
- The right to be informed of any breach, violation, or compromise of the security of your personal data that may result in significant harm.
Please be advised that the Bank will handle the above requests promptly and efficiently, taking into account that the Regulatory Requirements for Personal Data Protection require that responses be provided within fifteen (15) business days from the date of receipt of the request. We further note that, in certain circumstances, the response to your requests may be subject to specific limitations in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Data Security, Protection, and Confidentiality
The Bank undertakes to implement all appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss, unauthorized use, or unauthorized alteration. The Bank ensures that access to your personal data is strictly limited to legally authorized personnel whose responsibilities require such access, and who are bound by obligations of confidentiality and compliance with the approved protection standards. With respect to the use of the Bank’s electronic services, the customer bears full responsibility for maintaining the confidentiality of their user ID and password and for ensuring that such information is not disclosed to any third party.
We also ensure that all external parties with whom we engage adhere to the same standards of confidentiality, data privacy, and security applied by the Bank. Furthermore, we are committed to regularly updating and testing our security systems, and we strictly limit access to your personal data to only those individuals who require such data solely for the purpose of providing you with the products, content, or services we offer.
In the event of any breach of the security of your personal data, the Bank will notify you within twenty-four (24) hours of discovering the breach and will provide you with the necessary measures and guidance to protect yourself and mitigate any potential impact. This is in line with the Bank’s commitment to protecting your data in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, as well as your right to be informed of any violations or breaches affecting your personal data.
Amendments and Updates to the Privacy Policy
The Bank may update this Policy to reflect any changes in the manner in which your personal data is handled, in accordance with the requirements and laws governing the protection of personal data. Such amendments shall become effective immediately upon the publication of the updated notice on the Bank’s official website.
Administrative Penalties and Judicial Sanctions
Financial and/or administrative penalties shall be imposed on banks and other institutions that fail to comply with the Jordanian Personal Data Protection Law. Such penalties may include warnings, suspension, or partial or full revocation of the license, in addition to criminal penalties in certain cases, where the financial fine may reach up to ten thousand (10,000) Jordanian Dinars and shall be doubled in the event of recidivism. Violations may also give rise to civil claims for compensation for damages.
